How natural is it?
Is there any kind of treatment applied to this rug? What kind of dyes have been used? Is there a backing on it--and if so, what type?
The Ombre Navy Rug is not treated with anything as the wool is naturally stain and water resistant. The wool is skein dyed in a synthetic dye bath. Additionally, this rug features 3 backings. The wool is loomed into the first backing and then a second backing is applied with latex to hold in the loomed fibers. The 3rd backing is the canvas backing you will see on the finished product.

What chemicals were used on this rug during manufacturing?
Is it treated with flame retardants?
The Ombre Navy Rug is made with a 100% wool pile and cotton backing. Wool is naturally flame retardant so there have been no chemicals added to give it this feature. The latex used to hold the tufts in place and the backing on is the only compound used in these rugs. The solution used in the dying process is similar to that of any colored cotton t-shirt.

Color is Off
While we always have an excellent experience with Living Spaces in general, this rug is not matched to the color shown. It has no Navy Blue at all and is primarily a very light turquoise with darker turquoise on the ends. It does not match our home at all with all Navy Blue colors.
