Types of Bedroom Chairs

Armless bedroom chairs: Along with offering sleek style, armless bedroom chairs offer practicality, as they tend to take up less space than chairs with arms.
Mid-century modern bedroom chairs: With an array of ‘tapered’ and ‘flared’ features – and retro geometric shapes – mid-century modern bedroom chairs offer statement style in minimalistic silhouettes.
Classic bedroom chairs: Timeless styles of bedroom chairs include open arms, neutral hues and French-inspired details (such as cabriole legs and hand-carved craftsmanship).
Accent bedroom chairs: For a bolder punch, consider a bedroom chair in a statement-making color, such as bright tangerine or cool teal.
Neutral bedroom chairs: If you need extra seating in your bedroom, but not another standout accent piece, consider a toned-down design in a neutral, ‘blending-in’ shade, such as light beige or off-white.

Settees: A settee is a type of bedroom seat that allows for a little more ‘stretching-out’ room than a traditional design. Use it to lounge with a good book before bedtime – or as a unique accent piece to transform a ‘traditional’ aesthetic.

Where to Place a Bedroom Chair

If you’re working with a smaller bedroom space, it may seem like there’s only one place for a bedroom chair: in the corner of the bedroom. With a little maneuvering and creativity, though, the options for chair-placement are just about endless – and can even help to open up and refresh even the ‘tightest’ of quarters. Follow the tips below for helpful hints on where to place a bedroom chair.

At the foot of your bed. This arrangement is possible depending on two factors: how tall your bed is and the design of the chair. A short bed paired with a tall chair will look out of place and uneven, so if your bed is too short, consider adding a bunky board or other foundation for height. Secondly, the length of the chair’s back should match the length of the bed’s footboard; as a result, settees, loveseats and other similar chair designs work best in this type of arrangement.
In place of a nightstand. Another ‘eclectic’ arrangement, swapping a nightstand for a chair offers a pop of unexpected style. Just remember, though, to place the chair slightly farther away from the bed than where the nightstand would traditionally be to prevent a cramped, too-tight feel.
In the bedroom corner. A timeless arrangement, particularly when placed under a bright, breezy window.
