Cheat Sheet: 4 Steps to Fold Bed Sheets

Fact: Nobody actually enjoys folding bed sheets. The truth is, most of us don’t even know how to fold them properly and have resigned ourselves to the reality that we must settle for creases and wrinkles, lumps and bumps. Well, the days of settling are over, because we’re here to help guide and provide steps for how to fold sheets once and for all. From easy techniques to meticulous methods, here are four easy steps that get the job done.

Step 1

How to fold a fitted sheet may be one of the most common household conundrums. It’s a universal challenge we have all been faced with, so what’s the first thing you need to achieve your folding dreams? Well, you have to start with a wide, flat surface that welcomes you to lay out your fitted sheet easily and neatly. You also want to make sure the elastic side is facing up.

Step 2

Folding a fitted sheet ranks high on our list of overcomplicated tasks. As we try and simplify the process as much as possible, why don’t we first explain what is a fitted sheet anyways? A fitted sheet covers your mattress and features an elastic band to hold it firmly in place. As for step 2 of arguably the best way to fold a fitted sheet, all you have to do is fold the bottom of the sheet up horizontally.

Step 3

As we address how to fold sheets, we want to help demystify the activity by breaking it down into straightforward steps. After laying out your fitted sheet on a wide, flat surface and folding the bottom of the sheet up horizontally, you will want to fold the left side of the sheet into the middle and then fold the right side of the sheet over the left side.

Step 4

The final step in how to fold a fitted sheet with elastic is very easy, but let’s review the first three steps before we get there. You’ve got to lay out your fitted sheet on a wide, flat surface, then fold the bottom of the sheet up horizontally. After that, you fold the left side to the middle and the right side over the left. Last but not least to finish this easy way to fold a sheet, you fold the top into the center and then bring the bottom up and over that fold.
