Looking to dive into the world of mid-century modernism? A mid-century modern dining table is a great place to start.
Defining Features of Mid-Century Modern Dining Tables
Here are a couple of the features that define the statement design:
- Décor Feature #1: Tapered legs. Tapered legs are any furniture legs that “taper out” – they start off thick and grow thinner nearer the floor. They also defined interiors everywhere in the early ‘60s, making them a hallmark of mid-century modernism.
- Décor Feature #2: Natural color. While silhouettes were unique, the colors used in furniture in the mid-century were kept natural; similarly, mid-century modernism today reflects a neutral aesthetic.
- Décor Feature #3: Unique shapes. Unique shapes dominate a mid-century motif; in dining tables specifically, tabletops often feature angled corners (with the entire table surface in the shape of a parallelogram).
