Solid base or center legs?

Looking for a sturdy base to provide support for a Latex mattress.
Asked by: DirtyBootPrints
In case this helps others, my latex mattress manufacturer said that if slats are wider than 3" apart (as they were for the slats that came with my Blake II), you can simply lay a single layer of pegboard across the slats. If you don't have tools, buy them at a place like Home Depot and they'll cut the pegboards to size for you. With latex, you DON'T want a completely solid base (like plywood) as latex mattresses need ventilation. The uniform holes in the pegboard allow the latex mattress to breathe, preventing mold or mildew. If you opt for a bunky board: (1) If its made with slats, you want to be sure that THEY are no more than 3" apart or you just wasted your money (2) If it's solid plywood with a bit of fabric batting, I'd be back to worrying about the latex mattress being able to breathe.

Can you explain what MDF is?

Asked by: Mariam
Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is an engineered wood product made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibres, often in a defibrator, combining it with wax and a resin binder, and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure. MDF is generally denser than plywood.

Will I need a boxspring for this bed?

Asked by: Rose
I bought mine without the box spring, but purchased the bunky boards instead, which was not included in the price of the bed. You could possibly buy your own support boards, cut to length, but for time and cost might be comparable to what they charge.

What kind of wood?

The description says "walnut finish". Does that mean it has a walnut veneer? What kind of wood is under the veneer?
Asked by: LauraLaura
Solid wood. No veneer here, as far as I can tell. We love it ;)

Customer Reviews
KIT-BLAKE II QUEEN PLATFORM BED is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 67.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't Be Happier Being that this is my first time purchasing furniture on my own- My partner and I have been checking out places left and right. There are so many options out there and it is hard to know who offers quality products or who is just good at marketing. Living Spaces delivered both great quality and customer service. The Kit-Blake II Platform bed is sleek, sturdy, and functional. At first, I was a bit worried about the slatted bottom of the bed not being able to support our mattress (not to mention me and my partner both on top of it) but I was pleasantly surprised. The bed, as a whole, has great weight distribution and overall support. I am very happy that this was our first real furniture purchase and will be coming back for more in the future.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Like it, not love it The bed looks good, There is some space left between the frame and the mattress that I'm not a fan of, and everything is supposed to be queen. also there is a noise it makes when sitting down from the front, it doesn't happen on any other angle. Still haven't heard back from warranty to understand if it's normal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bed I recently visited a living spaces showroom to find a replacement bed. After browsing many great options, I came across this bed and really liked it's simple sleek design. I've had the bed for 3 weeks now, and I'm glad I bought it. I definitely plan on getting my next bedroom set for Living Spaces.
