How to Customize a Special Order Online

Dozens of stylish designs are eligible for customization at no additional charge. Through the convenient online tool, you can choose from a wide variety of fabrics, colors, and prints from the comfort of your own home.

Our new custom upholstery program makes it easier than ever to discover your designs, your way. Now, you can choose from over 100 universal fabric options – which can be applied to any item within the custom upholstery program. So you can see the colors up close and get a feel of the fabrics in person, every Living Spaces store now has its own Design Studio, complete with a massive display of all 100 swatches. The best part? Customizing your design comes at no extra charge, taking the stress out of the price, so you can focus on what matters: your dream designs!

How to Order an Item with Custom Fabric

1. Customize by Color

On the Custom Upholstery page, you can find every item that is available for customization.

Once you are on an individual item’s page, you will see a preview of the fabric options. (Note: if you do not see a preview of fabric options on a product page, then the product is not available for custom upholstery.)

On the left, you will see the fabric that is In Stock. This means you can get the item in that color immediately.

On the right are the options for custom upholstery. These options are available for delivery or pickup within 6-8 weeks.

If the item comes with pillows, you will also see an option for customizing the pillows by color. If the item comes with pillows of different sizes, you will have the option to customize each pillow size separately.

Along with the body and small pillow, the two medium toss pillows are now displayed in a custom shade.

2. Zoom in on the Upholstery

To get a close-up view of the fabric, switch between three zoom levels, located above the product. You can also click anywhere on the product for an instant '4x' close-up.

3. Rotate 360°

To see the item from every angle, click anywhere on the item and drag to rotate.

4. Expanded View

To see your customized design in full-screen HD, click on the arrows located in the upper right corner of the product display box.

5. Reset View

If you want to completely reset the design to its original upholstery, click 'Reset All,' located above the color options.

After clicking 'Reset All,' the sofa is now shown in its original upholstery.

Finalizing Your Custom Design

Once you've decided you can't live without your customized design, you can add the item to your cart by clicking the orange "Add to Cart" button on the right side of the tool. From there, you'll proceed to check out and complete the transaction as you normally would.

Once the item/items have been approved, the manufacturer will begin production. This process takes approximately 6-8 weeks. Once your order arrives in the distribution center, we will contact you to schedule delivery or pick up.

Note: Special Orders are not eligible for returns once received in a customer's home. Any Special Orders canceled prior to delivery are subject to a 25% fee.

Build Your Own Sectional

Did you know you can change the shape of a sectional? Check to see if the sectional is available for custom configurations on our Sectional Builder. Then, play around with different shapes, chaises and sizes and see your vision come to life, right on your screen.

Step 1: Build

In the Sectional Builder, you can find every sectional that is available for customization. Once you've selected the sectional you want, you will see a right panel displaying each component that is available to you to work with.

Select a component to start with.
You can start off with any piece you'd like to see in your sectional. No pressure here. If your mind, you can always remove it later.

View from left, right or straight-on.

Once you've selected a piece, note the "View" and "Click & Drag" features below the product. Click and drag to see how it looks from all angles.

Continue building.

Where you see a blue '+' is where you can add more pieces. Add as many pieces and types as you'd like!

Inspect from all angles.
To make sure it's the sectional of your dreams, get a better look at it. Play with the view tool to see it from above, below and all sides.

Remove a piece.

If you want to undo a selection, click on the right "remove piece" icon.

Complete your sectional.
Once you have all the pieces you want, you're ready to move on. Navigate to the fabric customizations tab, or, if you're happy with the fabric settings, you can skip ahead and add your design to cart.

Step 2: Choose Fabrics

Once you've designed the shape, you can start playing with fabric type, color, pattern and any throw pillows that may be available.

Open the Fabric Selections tab.

Here, you'll find every fabric that is available for you to customize your design with.

Select any color to see it come to life.

From the options in the Body tab, you can play around with different shades and patterns.

Set the tone for your throw pillows.

If the sectional comes with customizable pillows, this is where your design skills take the spotlight. Let your personality shine through as you customize and choose from our wide selection of colors and prints.

Complete the look.

Finish off your dream design, then head over to your cart to purchase and eagerly await your delivery!

Finalizing Your Custom Sectional

Once you've designed the sectional of you've been dreaming of, you're ready to add to cart. From there, you can start the check out process and complete your purchase.

The process for customizations takes about 6-8 weeks. As soon as it arrives in our distribution center, we'll contact you to let you know it's ready for delivery or pick-up.
