Is a box spring required?

Does the bed have enough support in the middle to hold a mattress without a box spring?
Asked by: frameshopper
Not necessary but, your mattress will sit slightly lower.

Space under bed

How many inches is it from the floor to the bottom of the bed panels? Hoping to store some smaller boxes underneath.
Asked by: Esump
There is enough under-the-bed room to store small bins.

How high is the top of the lower opening of the headboad?

How high is the top of the lower opening of the headboad? I'd like to know if a 4" (or 5") low profile foundation completely covers the lower opening. I know you guys recommend the full height foundation but it is too high for a 5 feet person.
Asked by: mamabee
The top of the lower opening of the headboard is about 40" from the floor. I have both a standard box-spring mattress (not a low-profile one) as well as a standard mattress on this bed and I still have six inches of height before any of the opening would be covered.

Can this bed be used with slats instead of a box spring?

Asked by: Ramona
You'll want to use the slats with a box spring because if you don't use the slats there won't be anything to support the middle of the box spring and your bed will eventually sag in the middle.

Can we add a bunky board instead of box spring?

Asked by: Patme
I would think so, just double check the dimensions. We got good quality plywood cut to the size of the inside frame and use that as a base. Has been working great so far.

Is the bed able to hold the weight of the Cali king mattress and the box springs And two people on it?

I've purchased a bed similar to this bed frame and the bed didn't even last two years after I had to put my own 5 2x4 wood slabs to support weight of a queen and a box spring
Asked by: Nikki
We're using thick plywood slabs on top of the slats for added support. We just purchased it, so time will tell if that helps it last - but so far that modification has definitely improved it. Also keep in mind that it is a pretty cheap for a cal king bed. If you're wanting something that lasts for many years, I might consider investing in a level or two up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bed - sturdy, great look, simple. I shopped around quite a bit and found this bed. I really like the look of the bed. Very modern and simple. It was easy to put together. I like the way the corners meet - very tight. My old bed was squeeky and this bed is very sturdy and doesn't make a sound. I've had the bed for a bit over a month and still really like it. You can use it with or without a box spring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very modern, sturdy and economical Bought this bed and had it delivered/assembled/slept in all within 48 hours. It was the easiest process I’ve gone through in recent memory and I will definitely be shopping from living spaces again. Nice, stable and modern. Was looking at IKEA bedframes originally but was at a loss when I realized their frames accompany Queen sized mattresses a half inch smaller than the norm, which was devestating because previously they seemed to be the pinnacle of stress-free/modern furniture for young people.
