Can I put a box spring and mattress on this frame?

Or can I adjust the slats to make the mattress taller?
Asked by: amas2337
I would not recommend putting a box frame on this bed. It's not needed so the slats aren't adjustable and if you put a box frame, it'll stick out and you'll see it. I was told in the store that they sell a small/thinner box frame type thing to go along with this bed in case you have a thin mattress or a memory foam thats thin. I imagine its the right size so it doesn't stick out and then you can have your mattress taller. I guess it'll have your mattress lay right where the frame is. Because I have a traditional spring mattress with a topper on top of it, they didn't recommend the box spring thing. Hope that helps!

How many slats are on the queen Alton?

Is a bunky board suggested?
Asked by: MDugganCA
Didn't count them, but there are lots of slats. No need to place a board on top for support. We have a foam mattress on it and it is great.

What are the exact dimensions of the queen mattress that would fit exactly into the bed frame?

What are the dimensions of the inside of the frame where the mattress would fit? One reviewer noted that there was a 5 inch discrepancy between their queen mattress and the space within the bed frame for it.
Asked by: FABulou5
The inside space for a mattress to sit in is: 61" x 82." With the size of my mattress, there was a 3-1/2 inch gap to spare that was taken up, and hidden, by tucking the coverlet under the mattress, and pillow shams with other pillows. There are 3-1/4 inches between slats that are held together and spaced evenly by straps. You will not fee the slats under the mattress.

What are the dimensions of the box the bed ships in? I'd like to pick it up in store but am not sure it will fit my car.

Asked by: Nihaopizza
I’d say pick it up in a truck. Unless you’re driving an SUV with fold down seats it will not fit in a car.

Does the bed have metal parts? like center support or base for slats? or it's all wood?

Asked by: rachelrozen
This bed has four additional support legs running the length of the bed. The bed has no metal parts but a wood frame & slats. Living Spaces assembled the whole bed for me.

Is it solid wood or laminate?

Is the back board and legs laminate? Does it scratch easy? thanks
Asked by: Freddy
These are solid wood not laminate. I wouldn’t say it’d scratch ‘easy’ but it doesn’t look like there’s tons of layers of lacquer so I’d make sure to treat it well.

What is the measurement for under bed storage space?

The inches measured from the base of the bed to the floor?
Asked by: Aces
There are four additional leg supports that run down the middle of the length of this bed. The clear storage area, (between the regular legs of the bed), for each side is 81.5" x 30.75" x 9.25" high. The foot of the bed 60" x 16.5"

What is the spacing between the slats? Does it have a center support?

The mattress we are getting specifies a width of no more than 4 inches between slats and it must have a center support.
Asked by: Rren
I can’t tell you exactly how much distance between each slat but I would guess 3” at most. It’s probably more like 2” and yes it does have a center support.

How deep between the slats and the top of the bed frame without the mattress?

Is there room for low profile box spring?
Asked by: LCSJ
It's only about 2 inches deep, but I bought a low profile box spring (4 inches) because I did not like how low the matress was without it. You can definitely see the box spring. My blankets hang low enough to cover it up so it doesn't bother me when the bed is made. Also considering a bed skirt, which will cover it.

As a whole piece, not sure. It came in three separate packages. Easy to carry by myself.

KIT-ALTON CHERRY QUEEN PLATFORM BED is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 116.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cherry Bed Frame I really love the look of this bed frame. The color of the wood is beautiful and it has a nice shape to it. It does move around a little on hardwood floors so keep in mind you might need to get something for under the feet of the bed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic Mid Century Design I live in a condo on the beach. My condo is a mid century modern bldg built in 1959. It is pretty much all original and this bedroom set fits beautifully. This is a well built piece of furniture for the price and very sturdy. I would recommend this item for anyone looking for that mid century feel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Bed, Very nice wood This is a solid bed. It was very heavy to move but relatively easy to install. The wood is very nice and the finish seems durable. There is no movement in the joints. It replicates a nice mid century look and blends well with legit older mid century pieces. We got the night tables too and they look good with the bed. Not too matchy matchy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bed This bed has excellent clean lines and even though it says it’s “Cherry” it has a very modern finish. It’s it’s well over a carpeted room and also concrete floors. The way the footboard is designed you don’t run into it like many other styles.
