Customer Questions

Is there any assembly required?

Will this bed be delivered fully assembled? If yes, can it be taken apart to transport? It cannot be delivered to our beach house so I have to deliver it to our main residence.
Asked by: Annie
We picked up our bed as we were outside of the delivery area. We did have to assemble it. I would guess it took about 30 minutes. It was relatively easy, but both my husband & I worked on it together. I don't think it's a one person job.

Can I put a box spring and mattress on this frame?

Or can I adjust the slats to make the mattress taller?
Asked by: amas2337
I would not recommend putting a box frame on this bed. It's not needed so the slats aren't adjustable and if you put a box frame, it'll stick out and you'll see it. I was told in the store that they sell a small/thinner box frame type thing to go along with this bed in case you have a thin mattress or a memory foam thats thin. I imagine its the right size so it doesn't stick out and then you can have your mattress taller. I guess it'll have your mattress lay right where the frame is. Because I have a traditional spring mattress with a topper on top of it, they didn't recommend the box spring thing. Hope that helps!

Is it solid wood or laminate?

Is the back board and legs laminate? Does it scratch easy? thanks
Asked by: Freddy
This frame is really heavy which leads me to believe it’s made of solid wood. When I think of laminated wood, I think of ikea quality which this definitely is not

What are the exact dimensions of the queen mattress that would fit exactly into the bed frame?

What are the dimensions of the inside of the frame where the mattress would fit? One reviewer noted that there was a 5 inch discrepancy between their queen mattress and the space within the bed frame for it.
Asked by: FABulou5
It's a terrible queen sized frame. At 63", It's 5" too wide for most queen mattresses, which is 60" standard for high end mattresses with cushioning. The Alton is also 85.5" long, which is 5.5" longer than a standard queen mattress. It doesn't make sense on why Living Spaces made a queen sized bed, that's not queen sized. There's no queen mattress that's going to fit this frame, which is too bad, because it's a good looking frame, but if your mattress has massive gaps everywhere it's useless. DON'T BUY this frame! 63"W x 85.5"D x 46.8"H

What are the dimensions of the box the bed ships in? I'd like to pick it up in store but am not sure it will fit my car.

Asked by: Nihaopizza
I'm not totally sure of the dimensions, but it actually comes in 3 boxes. We took my husbands full size pickup, and it totally filled up the back of the truck. If you just have a car, I'm thinking it's not likely to fit.

How many slats are on the queen Alton?

Is a bunky board suggested?
Asked by: MDugganCA
Didn't count them, but there are lots of slats. No need to place a board on top for support. We have a foam mattress on it and it is great.

How far apart are the slats?

Looking to use this for a memory foam.
Asked by: jonizzle
Slats look about 2-2.5" apart. I purchased a bunky board in which was placed on top of the slats to support my foam mattress. That'll prevent uneven wear on your mattress. (Note, it does make the bed pretty high and mattress doesn't sit in the frame.

Does the bed have metal parts? like center support or base for slats? or it's all wood?

Asked by: rachelrozen
This bed has four additional support legs running the length of the bed. The bed has no metal parts but a wood frame & slats. Living Spaces assembled the whole bed for me.

What is the measurement for under bed storage space?

The inches measured from the base of the bed to the floor?
Asked by: Aces
There are four additional leg supports that run down the middle of the length of this bed. The clear storage area, (between the regular legs of the bed), for each side is 81.5" x 30.75" x 9.25" high. The foot of the bed 60" x 16.5"

KIT-ALTON CHERRY QUEEN PLATFORM BED is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 367.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great MCM inspired platform bed This bed is really a bargain if you’re in the market for a solid platform bed with a clean mid century modern look. It’s sturdy and aesthetically pleasing, and the buying/delivery and assembly process was incredibly simple (paying the $99 delivery fee was 100% worth it to have a fully set up bed within 15 minutes without any hassle on our end). Great option for a platform bed with a reasonable weight limit, super happy with the purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great quality frame I love this frame. I love how sturdy it is and the color of the wood. I really like how low the frame goes so it’s easy to get in and out but I still have room to store things under the bed which my cat loves. This is a pretty heavy piece of furniture so I recommend you build it where you want it to be because it’s hard to move The only reason I’m giving this piece a 4 star instead of a 5 star is because it’s a bit hard to tuck my sheets under my mattress now since the bed frame actually has a lip of wood coming up all around the mattress. It’s a minor issue and I can totally live with it BUT it’s a bit annoying so not perfect. I’d definitely recommend this purchase if you’re looking for good quality for an affordable price

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Careful with this frame. Not a standard size We bought this frame with a recommended mattress. Both in FULL size. What we got installed was a frame about 8in longer than the mattress, which looks horrible. The delivery guys said that we needed to call support and "Good Luck with that". They were right, basically, the best I got from customer services was: "You can return it if you don't like it that way, but it will cost you 10% of the price". It's a shame that still in 2019 big chain stores treat customers like this. Never again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a long lasting bed We have had this bed for about 4 years now and it’s so fragile at this point we’ve told our two sons to no longer go on it. The cheap cheap cheap support legs broke within two years and my crafty husband has repaired and bandaid’d them at least 3 times trying to save this purchase. As other reviews mention the frame is too long for the mattress- I asked the guy when he was setting it up if it was the right frame and mattress as the it’s about a 4 inch gap - he said it was for the covers. Um ok? I was hoping to at least get some solid years out of this purchase! Really makes me not want to buy much more at Living Spaces
