Can I put a box spring and mattress on this frame?

Or can I adjust the slats to make the mattress taller?
Asked by: amas2337
I would not recommend putting a box frame on this bed. It's not needed so the slats aren't adjustable and if you put a box frame, it'll stick out and you'll see it. I was told in the store that they sell a small/thinner box frame type thing to go along with this bed in case you have a thin mattress or a memory foam thats thin. I imagine its the right size so it doesn't stick out and then you can have your mattress taller. I guess it'll have your mattress lay right where the frame is. Because I have a traditional spring mattress with a topper on top of it, they didn't recommend the box spring thing. Hope that helps!

What are the exact dimensions of the queen mattress that would fit exactly into the bed frame?

What are the dimensions of the inside of the frame where the mattress would fit? One reviewer noted that there was a 5 inch discrepancy between their queen mattress and the space within the bed frame for it.
Asked by: FABulou5
It's a terrible queen sized frame. At 63", It's 5" too wide for most queen mattresses, which is 60" standard for high end mattresses with cushioning. The Alton is also 85.5" long, which is 5.5" longer than a standard queen mattress. It doesn't make sense on why Living Spaces made a queen sized bed, that's not queen sized. There's no queen mattress that's going to fit this frame, which is too bad, because it's a good looking frame, but if your mattress has massive gaps everywhere it's useless. DON'T BUY this frame! 63"W x 85.5"D x 46.8"H

How many slats are on the queen Alton?

Is a bunky board suggested?
Asked by: MDugganCA
Didn't count them, but there are lots of slats. No need to place a board on top for support. We have a foam mattress on it and it is great.

Nope! It has slats that act as mattress support.

How far apart are the slats?

Looking to use this for a memory foam.
Asked by: jonizzle
Slats look about 2-2.5" apart. I purchased a bunky board in which was placed on top of the slats to support my foam mattress. That'll prevent uneven wear on your mattress. (Note, it does make the bed pretty high and mattress doesn't sit in the frame.

Is there any assembly required?

Will this bed be delivered fully assembled? If yes, can it be taken apart to transport? It cannot be delivered to our beach house so I have to deliver it to our main residence.
Asked by: Annie
The delivery men built it when they delivered it. It only took a couple minutes, so it should be pretty simple to disassemble and rebuild yourself, but you'll want a powerdrill, because there are quite a bit of screws for the slats.

What are the dimensions of the box the bed ships in? I'd like to pick it up in store but am not sure it will fit my car.

Asked by: Nihaopizza
I’d say pick it up in a truck. Unless you’re driving an SUV with fold down seats it will not fit in a car.

Does the bed have metal parts? like center support or base for slats? or it's all wood?

Asked by: rachelrozen
This bed has four additional support legs running the length of the bed. The bed has no metal parts but a wood frame & slats. Living Spaces assembled the whole bed for me.

Is it solid wood or laminate?

Is the back board and legs laminate? Does it scratch easy? thanks
Asked by: Freddy
These are solid wood not laminate. I wouldn’t say it’d scratch ‘easy’ but it doesn’t look like there’s tons of layers of lacquer so I’d make sure to treat it well.

What is the measurement for under bed storage space?

The inches measured from the base of the bed to the floor?
Asked by: Aces
There are four additional leg supports that run down the middle of the length of this bed. The clear storage area, (between the regular legs of the bed), for each side is 81.5" x 30.75" x 9.25" high. The foot of the bed 60" x 16.5"

KIT-ALTON CHERRY QUEEN PLATFORM BED is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 258.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I’d buy it all over again! This bed is awesome! I love the height of it! The cherry wood is the perfect shade for our decor too. It has a warmth about it that I love. The style of the bed is the perfect mid century modern style. There is ample space beneath the bed too, for any sort of storage necessities. It is not bulky and doesn’t take up a ton of space in our room. It’s the perfect bed. I would buy it all over again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good simple platform bed I like the look of a headboard but have had a problem finding a nice one that doesn't also have a footboard. After years of messing with a footboard which makes it hard to make the bed, we wanted a change. So when we bought a new mattress, instead of getting a box spring, we looked at platform beds. This one was simple, sturdy and had no pesky footboard to get in the way. It was reasonably priced, good quality and the guys who delivered and assembled it were quick and thorough. It's great!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks Great - Cheap laminate that chipped immediately I purchased this bedroom set last year. Delivery was great. I liked the look of the set. Almost immediately the side table had a chip on the edge without apparent cause. I was okay with that. However, the bed frame footboard and sideboards now have 6 areas where the laminate has peeled. Some pieces are 3-4" long. This furniture is a very light use area. The only thing that I can imagine that could cause this would be a vacuum cleaner. Initially I was told that this would be covered under manufacturer warranty. (It was 9 months after purchase when I called). Now on my 3rd call, I am told that it will not be covered. So unless you want to keep a no-touch perimeter around your bed, do not purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally found the bed of my dreams! I have been searching for the perfect midcentury style bed for the last year. Most I came across were either way out of my price range or just not quite right. I randomly popped in to Living Spaces to check them out, not expecting to find anything when I went to the bed area. Lo and behold, I turned a corner and there was sitting the perfect bed! The icing on the cake was that the customer service was so wonderful. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and matched my crazy enthusiasm at finally finding the bed of my dreams. I highly recommend this particular product but also the experience of shopping at Living Spaces. Their team matches their product offerings in quality!
