Can I put a box spring and mattress on this frame?

Or can I adjust the slats to make the mattress taller?
Asked by: amas2337
I would not recommend putting a box frame on this bed. It's not needed so the slats aren't adjustable and if you put a box frame, it'll stick out and you'll see it. I was told in the store that they sell a small/thinner box frame type thing to go along with this bed in case you have a thin mattress or a memory foam thats thin. I imagine its the right size so it doesn't stick out and then you can have your mattress taller. I guess it'll have your mattress lay right where the frame is. Because I have a traditional spring mattress with a topper on top of it, they didn't recommend the box spring thing. Hope that helps!

How many slats are on the queen Alton?

Is a bunky board suggested?
Asked by: MDugganCA
Didn't count them, but there are lots of slats. No need to place a board on top for support. We have a foam mattress on it and it is great.

What are the exact dimensions of the queen mattress that would fit exactly into the bed frame?

What are the dimensions of the inside of the frame where the mattress would fit? One reviewer noted that there was a 5 inch discrepancy between their queen mattress and the space within the bed frame for it.
Asked by: FABulou5
The inside space for a mattress to sit in is: 61" x 82." With the size of my mattress, there was a 3-1/2 inch gap to spare that was taken up, and hidden, by tucking the coverlet under the mattress, and pillow shams with other pillows. There are 3-1/4 inches between slats that are held together and spaced evenly by straps. You will not fee the slats under the mattress.

Does the bed have metal parts? like center support or base for slats? or it's all wood?

Asked by: rachelrozen
This bed has four additional support legs running the length of the bed. The bed has no metal parts but a wood frame & slats. Living Spaces assembled the whole bed for me.

What is the measurement for under bed storage space?

The inches measured from the base of the bed to the floor?
Asked by: Aces
There are four additional leg supports that run down the middle of the length of this bed. The clear storage area, (between the regular legs of the bed), for each side is 81.5" x 30.75" x 9.25" high. The foot of the bed 60" x 16.5"

How deep between the slats and the top of the bed frame without the mattress?

Is there room for low profile box spring?
Asked by: LCSJ
It's only about 2 inches deep, but I bought a low profile box spring (4 inches) because I did not like how low the matress was without it. You can definitely see the box spring. My blankets hang low enough to cover it up so it doesn't bother me when the bed is made. Also considering a bed skirt, which will cover it.

Depth of bed vs queen mattress size?

Did more people have an issue with the depth of the frame versus the size of their queen mattress? A few people mentioned this was an issue and that there was a 5 inch gap. Would like to know before I purchase the bed.
Asked by: EricaG
Depth is about 2 inches from slats to top of frame. The width of frame is larger than the matress by about 2 or 3 inches, but the slats go from edge to edge so there us no issue with the matress fitting.

It states the color is cherry but it appears more walnut colored. Does it have a red tone to it like one would expect from cherry or more brown?

Asked by: Dunk
It's more of a golden honey red than deep purple red, but it's not walnut brown. It's lighter than I expected but the color is very rich.

what is the height of the headboard alone

I have a mattress that is 16" and want to be sure there will be enough headboard showing.
Asked by: anneto
Measuring from floor to height of headboard (without posts) is 46." Measuring from the slats to the top of the headboard (without posts) is 33-1/2." The bed posts are about 1/2" higher than the top of the headboard.

Is it solid wood or laminate?

Is the back board and legs laminate? Does it scratch easy? thanks
Asked by: Freddy
I would say it's solid wood. It doesn't "read" like laminate and I can tell that from a mile away.

KIT-ALTON CHERRY QUEEN PLATFORM BED is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 94.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good and the value is crazy This is essentially the same bed another company with a name that rhymes with Mest Helm sells for a LOT more. Great, simple assembly.. we have three of these (one white, two in cherry) and they are top notch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bed Bed is solid and doesn't squeak as other beds. The supporting post does stop sliding large container beneath the bed. Had it delivered and was built in a matter of 15 minutes,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it! I gravitate toward a mid-century modern/minimalist style and this fit perfectly. The quality is really great and it's an amazing value. West Elm has a similar bed for way more money, the main difference being a slight variation in the color. I read reviews about the leg on the bottom showing, but I don't have the same problem, maybe it's the size of the room. Who knows. Either way, I don't have a single complaint about the bed. The delivery was also amazing. They were on time and really efficient and professional. (I also purchased the Alton Cherry night-stand and dresser and they all look great together and are really well built) Buy this bed!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Horrible quality We purchased this bed on 7/4/16 and had noticed little cracking noises when we'd go to sleep sometimes. It was worrisome but we were tired, so we didn't pay much attention to it. (I know, we should have!) It was getting worse and worse, so today, 2/3/18, we decided to take a look at the damage. We were shocked to see 3 of the center supports completely broken and fallen off. Based on some other reviews, this is pretty common. Of course, we did not buy the extended warranty, but surely they would have some options for us to repair it, right? NOPE. I called Living Spaces and while the girl on the phone was friendly, she said there was nothing she can do. Some people on these reviews mention an $85 repair kit, but nothing of that sort was offered to me. Buyer beware... this bed is cute, but it's as cheap as an Ikea bed in quality. It did not last us 2 years.
