Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed Disappointing. For nearly 300$ I expected a higher quality lamp. I’d seen many similar models on other sites, including Amazon, for a lot less money. I’ve read a lot of reviews about this type of lamp and so many of the issues stated for the cheaper lamps from other vendors, cropped up with this one. I visited my local Living Spaces store, hoping to see the model I wanted first-hand. I wanted to get a clearer idea of the tone and height of the lamp in person. I was seriously disappointed to discover they didn’t have that model in this color on display. I got to see other purchases I was considering at the time though so it wasn’t a complete loss. When we decided on the items we’d settled on to complete our purchase, we decided not to make the purchases in-store. Our previous experiences with that process had made us feel like it was no different than ordering it ourselves online. We came home and placed our order. This lamp arrived yesterday evening while the rest of our purchases aren’t available for another 10 days. (At the time of our purchase, the first available pick up for them was 13 days out). I was surprised and pleased with how quickly the lamp arrived. I had mistakenly resigned myself to the delayed date due to the other purchases not being available for pick up. We unpacked this and all of the comments from other purchasers of similar lamps from other vendors, applied. The box was terribly beat up upon arrival. The marble base is missing a noticeable chunk off the top edge and the nickel finish is chipped around the front edge of the shade, showing white in it’s place. There was also some sort of black rubber marking on the top of the marble base which I was able to clean off with some effort. It was easy and quick to assemble. The lamp leaned significantly once assembled and placed on carpet. We’ve had to place a piece of board under the front edge of the lamp to level it out. The small leveling pads they provide would never compensate for the degree of lean present. We’ve decided not to return the lamp despite it’s issues and placed it behind a couch where the worst issues aren’t visible. If Living Spaces were to take anything from this, I would hope that it would be that customers are fairly understanding when things go wrong and when companies own their mistakes and operate in good faith, that customers are more likely to return. We’d rather not go through the inconvenience and cost of replacing it. I’d also like to note that this is not the first product we’ve purchased, paid for delivery and assembly for from Living Spaces and received a slightly damaged good as our purchase. It’s definitely affecting my perception of this company and personally, I’d be more appreciative of a gift card of just about any amount for a future purchase with the store than being approached with a suggestion to disassemble my lamp, package it back up, arrange for a pick-up and wait on a replacement that I would then have to assemble. I’d also think that a gift certificate would be more cost effective for the company than the write off damaged goods usually go through.
